CGN made a commitment to improve the lives of people in the communities near the FeNix Project, with the creation of the Raxche’ Foundation, which in the language of the Q’eqchi’ means “the tree of hope”.
The foundation works with communities in the Basin of Lake Izabal, improving health and education, and stimulating jobs, promoting new areas of production and community development.
Raxche’ has implemented over 80 projects covering the different areas in which they work, for instance infrastructure projects in schools, training courses, courses for teachers, in the area of health there have been conducted medical seminars and community pharmacies. In the forest issue, the foundation works to promote the Private Natural Reserve, SETAL, in community nurseries and reforestation projects; in the area of agribusiness it promotes alternative crops.
We presented the annual report of the implementation and operation of the Raxche’ Foundation in the 2010 period. Memories are made as a narrative that details the actions in the main areas of work as well as administrative and financial aspects. It also includes an institutional analysis component aimed to highlight new areas of opportunity for 2011.
